Bro Lemuel Hall Bethel, was at Spring Hill Baptist Church, Gibson County, of which he is member, on the Sabbath day, the 11th of January, 1835, solemnly ordained to the work of the ministry. On the previous day he was examined, by the Presbytery in the presence of the Church, as to his Christian experience, views of doctrine, and call to the ministry. The result was very satisfactory. Sermon by Rev. P. S. Gayle, from 2nd Timothy, 14th and 15th verses. Ordaining prayer by the Rev. Wm. Smith. Imposition of hands by the above named brethren and Z. N. Morrell; charge and right hand of fellowship by Elder Gayle. After the ordination the Church went into the communion of Saints. The season was very interesting, and we hope good was done.
Yours &c.
P. S. Gayle.[From R. B. C. Howell, editor, The Baptist newspaper, January, 1835, p. 4. CD edition from M/F. Scanned and formatted by Jim Duvall.]
