We had delightful services at Galloway yesterday, morning and night. Congregations good, and the outlook quite favorable for a successful year's work. I have accepted the care of the Galloway and Germantown Baptist Churches for this year, each taking half of my time. This will be my third year at Germantown.

One month ago the brethren of Sharon Baptist Church drove their wagons and teams Into my yard and walked into my house and relieved it of all its contents and drove away. My wife and I followed after them to see what they did. In one hour they drove up to a new house and relieved themselves of their burdens and introduced us to our new home. The night following I began a series of meetings at Sharon, being assisted part of the time by Revs. Ridden, Dowell and Brickey. The meeting resulted in the conversion of 20 persons, 21 additions to church, with more to follow. Among the converts was one anti-Christ. On the 11th of December, at the home of the bridesmaid, in the presence of several guests, Prof. S. S. Hill and Miss Mary J. Calliway were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the writer officiating. The presents were numerous and useful. May the Lord bless and prosper them through life.

In response to President Henderson's suggestion that we raise the proposed endowment between June, 1900 and 1901,1 for one express my hearty approval, and with it pledge myself to do all I can to warrant its success. We can raise it so easily if we only try. I have been a close observer of the needs of the college during the nine years I have lived in Mossy Creek. I know of the sacrifices made by Bro. Henderson and his co-workers. I know much of the financial struggles through which the college has passed, and I do think this coming year a very favorable time to place Carson and Newman on a solid foundation. Brethren, speak out all along the line and don't confine it to East T Tennessee. Let brethren beyond the mountains in the fertile region of Middle Tennessee come to our aid and enjoy a part of the blessings that would follow such a measure. Now while our efficient and much esteemed President is in Washington preparing himself for still greater usefulness, let us be laying up something and have it ready for his return. God will bless our gifts. Let every Baptist determine to share it.

S.S. Hale.
