Ross Range
Baptist Pastor

      Ross Landon Range, Sr. was Born July 9, 1917 in Woodford County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Jacob Landon Range and Luvena Sewell Range of Woodford County, Kentucky.

      His wife Ruth Clark Range preceded him in death, after 60 years of marriage, on November 13, 1996, and also his daughter Peggy Ruth Range of Georgetown, Kentucky, on June 27, 2009.

      He is survived by his son Ross Landon Range, Jr. and wife Ethel, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. On January 15, 1967, he was called as the second pastor of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky to become effective, March 5, 1967. He was editor the Ashland Avenue Baptist weekly church paper, which had a wide distribution. He pastored there until 1990.

      In his sixty years of ministry he pastored five Baptist churches; the last being Hillcrest Baptist Church of Danville, VA. He and his wife Ruth loved every church he pastored and God blessed in marvelous ways. He had been in declining health for the last 6 years of his life and died on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the age of 95.

      His funeral was held at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Danville, Virginia. Interment was at Highland Burial Park.
