The case of Bro. Robert W. Dudley is referr'd to our next meeting. Bro. Jeremiah Northcutt infom'd the Church that Bro. Clarksons John had been charged with the Sin of Adultry and after being dealt with in Gospel Order and on his not Attending after having liberty from his Master he is Excluded from our Union.

The Case of Harts Charles Continued.

Our Clerk is directed to Send a Letter of Dismission to Sister Hannah Winters into the Louisiana Country by Bro. Bartlett Collin.

Bro. John Darnsby is requested to converse with Sister Anna Weary respecting her not attending meetings and report to our next meeting.

The Case of Sister Ruth a free Black woman is Continued.

Recd. Bro. Anthony New by letter.

Recd. into our Church Stock 12s, 8d. the whole amount £8, 13s, lld. Then Dismist.

Bren. Ambrose Dudley & John Mason are appointed helps to attend the Call of the Church at Strodes Station.

On Harts Charles not attending this meeting after being Cited he is Excluded from our Union.

The Case of Bro. Robert W. Dudley was taken up and on his not attending after being Notified he is Excluded from our Union.

The Case of Sister Ruth again Continued & Bro. James Stark is requestd to cite her to attend our nex[t] meeting.

A complaint was brought forward against Boswells Selah for Swearing and falsehood. Bro. Henry Roach is requested to cite her to our next meeting. Bro. Littleton Estes informed the Church that a riot had taken place at his house wherein he had acted Improperly in Several Instances,

upon his Confessing his faults he was reprov'd and admonish'd before the Church and continued in Union.

On receiving a letter Sign'd by Several of our ministers to Call a Convention of the Churches to meet at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Mondy in May next to Enquire into the Cause or Causes of the present distress of the Society &c. (agreed to) and Brethren Ambrose Dudley and Leonard Young are Chosen to attend Sd. meeting. Then Adjourn'd

The Case of Sister Ruth a free Black woman for the Charge of Drunkenness &c. was taken up and on her not attending after being Notified she is Excluded from our Union.

The Case of Boswells Selah was Taken up on a Charge for proface [profane] Swearing & falsehood, and on her refusing to attend to answer to the Sd. Charges She is Excluded from our Communion. Recd. Ruth Owens by letter.

Agreed that our Commissioners Employ a workman to make seats in our new meeting house & a Pulpit, the money to be paid by the Church by the first day of November next, Then Dismist.

Bro. Harry Hardister having fail'd to attend our meetings for some time past Bro. Benjamin Martin is requestd to Converse with Sd. Bro. & cite hiim to attend our next meetng.

Leonard Young and John Mason are requested again to converse with him and cite him to attend our enxt meeting. Recd. Sarah Pritchitt by Letter. Bren. Young & Mason reported they had convers'd with Bro. Harry Hardister concerning his Neglecting to attend our Stated Church meetings agreeable to our Covenant and cited him (& urged on him) to attend this meeting & on his neglecting to come he is Excluded from our Communion.

Bren. Ambrose Dudley & John Mason are appointed to write a letter for this Church to our depending Association for Inspection at our next meeting. Bren. Asa Tompson, Leonard Young & John Mason are appointed to Examine into a diffiuclty between Roger's Reuben & Kirtleys Ben & report to next meeting. Then Adjourn'd.

At a Church meeting held at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Saturday in July 1807 after Prayer proceded to Business as follows.

The letter to our association prepared by Bren. Dudley & Mason was read & recd. and our Brethren Ambrose Dudley, Leonard Young, Asa Tompson, & John Mason are Chosen our Messengers to attend our Said Association to be held at the meeting house at Davids Fork on the second Saturday in next month. Recd. Fanney Clark a free Black woman be letter. Bren. Tompson, Young & Mason reported They had Examined into a matter of Difficulty Between Rogers' Reuben & Kirtleys Ben, that Ben Confest he had taken of his Masters Whiskey without leave & that he had been found in bed with Sd. Reubens wife and on his failing to attend this meeting after being cited he is Excluded from our Union.

On the information of Brother Ambrose Dudley that Bro. Robert Boaty inform'd him, that he had been guilty of the Sin of Adultry agreed that Bro. Leonard Young & John Mason Cite him to attend our next meeting to answer the premisses.

A letter was recd. from our Sister Church at Town fork for helps to attend at their meeting house on the 28th day of this month to assist in some difficult matter. Agreed that Bren. Ambrose Dudley, Leo'd Young, John Darnaby, & John Mason are Chosen to attend our Sd. sister Church, and render her such assistance as they can in a Constitutional manner.

Our Clerk is directed to give letter of Dismission to Joseph Oder & his Wife & Pugh Price Junr. A complaint laid in by Bro. Richard Sharp against Bro. Littleton Estes for his being drunk in Lexington, Referr'd. Then Adjourn'd.

Business as follows.

The Case of Bro. Littleton Estes as referr'd from last meeting and was taken up to which he gave Satisfaction of his repentance and is restored on a reproof. Recd. into our Church Stock £5, 1s, 6d.

Recd. of Mr. Saml. Caldwell by the hand of Bro. J. C. Richardson £3.

The above 1_? Dollars was intended towards Building the meeting house.

Agreed that our commissioners pay Mr. Swan for making the Seats in our meeting house £6, 7s and likewise Bren. John Darnaby & James Dudley 4 Dollars for repairing the Old Seats &c. Then Adjourn'd.

On receiving a Note from Bro. Littleton Estes of his withdrawing from the Church in a disorderly manner, Bren. John Darnaby & James Clark are requested to converse with him on the Subject & Cite him to our next meeting. Bro. Joseph Allen complained against Bro. Jeptha Dudley for unbecoming language & threats used against Bro. Jacob Creath, on his acknowledging the impropriety of Such language and condemning the same he is acquitted. Recd. Elizabeth Fullion & Burgess Sullivan by letter.

Our Clerk is directed to give a letter to Bro. Harry Roach & his Wife. Then Dismist.

Littleton Estes came before the Church and confest his fault in writing to withdraw himself from the Church and is Consequently restored with a reproof.

Brother William Grant and James Stark are requested to Converse with Bro. John C. Richardson respecting his proposing to withdraw his membership from us and cite him to attend our next meeting. Our Clerk is directed to give[e] letters of Dismission to Bren. Anthoney New, Robert Prewitt, George Boswell, John Coons & Sister Elenor Warrick.

On a Complaint brought against Town Fork Church By Bren. W. Clarkson and Ambrose Dudley for their Improper decisions is [in] a Case wherein Bro. Joseph Reading Charged Bro. Jacob Creath for Slandering Bro. Ambrose Dudley for which he was acquitted without being called on for proof, or making any Acknowledgment & another Case in which William Clarkson and his Wife were a dissatisfaction and have Chosen a Committee To wit. Our Bren. James Stark, John Darnaby, Joseph Robertson, and John Mason to attend their next meeting to lay Sd. Complaint before them to seek for Satisfaction and report to our next meeting and that Brethren Ambrose Dudley and John Mason prepare a letter for our Sd. committee to take to our Sd. Sister Church. Then Adjourn'd.

Richardson Came before the Church and gave his reasons for proposing to withdraw his membership and after fully Investigating the matter he has again taken his Seat in Fellowship by full convert [consent?]. Our Clerk is directed to give a letter of Dismission to Bro. Joseph allen and his Wife. Then Adjourn'd.

On the information of Bro. Asa Tompson and others that Bro. Archibald Harris had disappointed them in paying his Just debts and had decieved them at different times our Bren. Wm. Grant & Albert Brite are appointed to Converse with Brol[.] Harris on the Subject & Cite him to attend our next meeting. In Consequence of Bro. Tobious Pennington's not attending our meetings in an Orderly manner Bro. Wm. Grant is requested to Cite him to attend our next meeting & Bren. John Pickett & George Hunt to Cite Bro. Scara & Bro. Clifton Tompson to Cite Allen Pruitt & Bro. Patterson Cite Bro. Thomas all for Neglecting to attend our Stated meetings. Then Adjourn'd.

Bro. Archibald Harris came before the Church in consequence of the Complaint of Bro. Asa Tompson and others at our last meeting for disappointing them in the payment of Money Due them &c. After fully hearing the

Case the Church are of Oppinion that Bro. Harris do Endeavour to pay his Just debts Whenever Called on if it is to the Sacrifising of his property. Refferrance from last meeting respecting Bren. Pennington & Sacra Continued.

Agreed that Bren. Asa Tompson & Sam C. Patterson Cite Bro. Allen Pruitt to attend our next meeting to give his reasons for absenting himself from our Stated meetings. Our Clerk is directed to write to Bro. Jos­eph Oder to attend our Church meeting in April. Then Adjourn'd.

At a Church meeting held at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Saturday in March 1808 after prayer to God for his Blessing proceded to business as follows.

The Case of Bro. Tobias Pennington again Continued Bro. Wm. Grant to Cite him to our next meeting. The Case of Bro. Allen Prewitt as referred was taken up and on tts appearing by Bren. Asa Tompson & Sam Patterson that he refused to attend our meeting again as a Member as he did not hold with the Doctrines & Principles of the Church in Consequence of which he is Excluded from our Communion.

On a motion being made agreed that the first business at our Church meet­ing Shall be to attend to & Inquire after matters of difficulty or griev­ances if there be any among the members.

Our Clerk is directed to give a letter of dismission to Sister Northcutt. The refferrance respecting Bro. George Sacra on a Complaint for his not attending our meetings after being cited, and he refusing to attend is Consequently Excluded from our Union. Bren. George Hunt & Bird Price are requested to Cite Bro. Bailey to attend our Next meeting to give his reasons for neglecting to attend our meetings. Then Adjourn'd.

The Case of Bro. Tobias Penniington on a Complaint for not attending our meetings in an Orderly manner, was taken up who after being Called on to attend and refusing to come and his professing a wish to be out of the Church he is Excluded from our Union. The Case of Bro. John Bailey was taken up and referr'd Bro. Ambrose Dudley to Cite him to our next meeting. The Case of Bro. Oder referr'd. Then Adjourn'd.

At a Church meeting held at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Saturday in May 1808 after prayer to God for his Blessing proceded to business as follows.

Bro. John Bailey came forward and gave Satisfaction for his neglect in attending our meetings and took his Seat.

The Case of Bro. Oder was taken up and Bren. Clifton Tompson, Eicd [?] Sharp & Ovid Boon are appointed to see Sd. Bro. & demand his letter & Cite him to our next meeting. On a Complaint Brought by Bro. John Darnaby against Bro. Littleton Estes for breaking the peace by Striping to fight and drinking too much Spiritous Liquors with other disorderly Conduct. Brethren Jamas Clark, & Francis Smith are appointed to Cite him to our meeting & demand his letter of Dismission.

Bro. John Rogers & James Dudley are appointed Trustees to take Charge of our Meeting house and lott for one year.

The Case of Bro. Oder taken up and Continued. Same Brethren Continued still to cite him still to attend our meeting. The Case of Bro. Littleton Estes was taken up and for his not appearing after being notified to­gether with ths complaints made against him last meeting he is Excluded from our Union. Bren. Ambrose Dudley & John Mason are appointed to write our Church letter to our depending association for Inspection at our next meeting and to insert therein our Complaints against Town Fork Church. Bren. James Stark, Joseph Robertson, Abraham Farguson, John Mason, & Arch­ibald Holtzclaw are appointed a Committee to Endeavour to reconcile some difficulties between Bro. Archibald Harris and some of our Brethren.

We of the Committee having heard the difficulties between Bro. A. Harris & Bro. John Rogers are of Oppinion that Bro. Harris has no Just Cause of Complaint against Bro. Rogers. We are also of Oppinion that our Sd. Bro. Harris has no Just casuse of complaint against Bro. Asa Tompson after hearing the matter of difficulty between them.

The difficulty Bro. Harris had with Bro. Young they convers'd on and Settled between themselves. Then Adjourn'd

The case of Bro. Oder again referr'd & same Bren. to see him & cite him to our next meeting. On receiving a letter from the Baptist Church at Wilmington, Campbell County respecting Martha Smith and a Member with us who was Excluded for Joining the Methodist Society which is Correct and that she now wishes to Join Sd.Church, our Clerk is directed to write to Sd. Church to let her know that if she will Signifie to us her re­cantation Either personally of by a letter we can then restore her & Send her a letter of Dismission.

We agreed to go into the business of raising our Church Stock and recd. 7 Dollars & the business to be continied [sic] Next meeting. Recd. Rogers's

Joseph Oder Came before the Church after being Cited In Consequence of Some Charges presented to us in a letter from some person perhaps from Crooked Creek of his abusing his Wife in a beast­ly manner & that ha had been gambling wrestling & Offering to fight an Old man and hunting on the Lords day, Bro. Oder Confest to all the Charges Except wrestling and on his Confession & appearance of repent­ance he is restored after a reproof.

Our Clerk is directed to give letters of dismission to Bro. Joseph Oder & Todds phillis.

Recd. into our Church Stock 14 Dollars 1s in the whole $21, 1s. To paying Bro. Mason ----------------- 1 ____________________________________________________

On a Complaint brought against James Bryan a Free Black man by Bro. Sam (a black man) for being Concern'd in Stealing of money which appeared probable he is Consequenly Excluded from our Union.

On a Complaint against Dudleys Black man Stephen for Eloping from his Masters business &c. Bro. Richard Sharp is requested to cite him to our next meeting. Recd.Wm. Boyce by letter. Then Dismist.

The Case of Dudleys Black man Stephen again referr'd, and Bro. Richard Sharp requested to cite him to our meeting. On a motion agreed that Bren. Leonard Young, Asa Tompson, James Stark & John Mason be appointed a Committe to converse with Bro. John Mckensey and Mr. Joseph Barby on a Certain matter of difficulty between them and make report &c. recd. into our Church Stock by Bren. Grant & Belt 7s, 6d.

The same Bren. are again requested to converse with Bro. Mckinsey and if he Obstinately refuses to attend with the Bren. that they Cite him to attend

At a Church meeting held at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Saturday in December 1808 after prayer to God proceded to business as follows.

The Case of Dudleys Stephen was taken up he came before the Church and Confest his faults which was satisfactory.

The Committee appointed to Converse with Bro. Mckensey and Mr. Joseph Barbey made there [sic] report that they did not get them reconciled, it is therefore the advice of the Church to Bro. Mckensey & Mr. Barbey that they converse freely & friendly with Each other & try to get their difficulties removed. Our Clerk is directed to give a letter to Bro. Willis Pritchitt. Our Sister Church at Davids fork haveing let us know by Bro. Hunt , Wilson & Boon their desires to Settle any and all difficulties that do, or has Existed between the Two Churches which was taken up and agreed unanimoulsy that if any member of our Sister Church at Davids Fork has any matter of distress or grievence with any of our members for any thing they may have done or said at any time that they be invited to proceed with them in Gospell order to try to get such Difficulties removed and on motion Agreed to send a committee of Seven of our Members to wait on our Sd. Church at their next meeting to let them know this our Conclusion and to bring us their answer. To Wit. - Ambrose Dudley, Leonard Young, Asa Thompson, John Darnaby, James Stark, Joseph Robertson and John Mason.

On receiving a letter from Bro. Wm. Dudley Senr. that he does withdraw his membership from us, Bren. Ambrose Dudley, Leonard Young, and John Mason are appointed to converse with our Sd. Bro. on the subject and cite him to attend our next meetng. Then Adjourn'd

At a Church meeting held at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Saturday in January 1809 after prayer to God for his blessing proceded to business ad follows.

The Case of Bro. William Dudley Senr. was taken up wherein he Signified his withdrawing from the Church our Bren. Ambrose Dudley, Leonard Young, and John Mason, reported that they had conversed with Sd. Bro. And Cited him to attend our meeting, on his failing to attend he is Exclud­ed from our Union.

On a report by Bro. Albert Brite, that Bro. Archibald Harris has removed his residence fron among us without applying for a letter of dismission & Expressions of dissatisfaction with Some of our Members he is conseqeunly Excluded from our Union. Our Clerk is directed to write a letter of dismission for Sister Patsey Orcutt formerly Patsey Smith.

Our Bren. who were Chosen last meeting to attend our Sister Church at Davids Fork at their last meeting to let them know our desires for all Difficulties or distresses that may now Exist between any member or members of Either Church might be removed made their report that our Sister Church at Davids fork recieved them in a friendly and Brotherly manner and Entered into a resolution to open their doors to hear any Difficulties that Exist between any of our members against any of the members of Davids fork Except what happened at the association or the Cormmitte at Town Fork which was Satisfactory. On the rect. of a letter from Bro. Ovid Boon mentioning his withdrawing from the Church, and as there are Strong reasons to believe that he has walked disorderly for a considerable time past, and now is his letter falsly reflecting on the Church, Bren. Leonard Young & John C. Richardson are appointed to converse with Sd. Bro. & Cite him to our next meeting.

On Bro. George Shamlin makeing known that there was a difficulty be­tween him and Bro. Jesse Barby it is laid over untill Sister Shamlin can attend. Then Adjourned.

The Case of Bro. Ovid Boon was taken up and upon his not giving Satisfac­tion to the Church he is Excluded from our Union.

The Case of Bro. George Shamlin against Bro. Jesse Barby was taken up & upon hearing the Difficulty between them agreed to appoint Bren. Leonard Young, John C. Richardson & Asa Tomson a Committe to meet at Bro. Shamlins house to try to get the Difficulty removed and make report to next meeting.

At the request of Bren. James Dudley & John Rogers who had the Charge of the meeting house to be released they are therefore Discharged and Bren. James Rogers and Richard Sharp are appointed in their place.

At the request of Bro. Boyce the following Querry is recieved [sic] and refer'd to next meeting viz. if a member of the Baptist order have a claim on Two persons Jointly bound by a written Contract one of them of the Same Order

the Other under no Church govemment, both refuse to Contract, Querry To what Tribunal is the Injured member to resort for a redress of the grievance.

Shamlin made known that Existed between him and Bro. Jesse Barbsy at our last meet­ing is happily reconciled. Querry from last meeting if a member of tha Baptist Order have a Claim on Two persons Jointly Bound by a written Contract one of them of the Same Order the Other under no Church Government and both refuse to comply with their Contract, To what Tribunal is the Injured member to resort for redress of his grievances, Answer to the Church, with the Brother.

At a Church meeting held at the meeting house at Bryans on the Third Saturday in August 1809 after prayer to God for his blessing proceded to Business as follows.

Our Deacons are directed to pay Bro. George Forbus 32s. for keeping the meeting house.

On infomation by Bro. Forbus that he had heard a report that Sister Bradburn and her Son Bro. John Bradburn who had letters of Dismission from us were living disorderly and had kept up their letters. Our Clerk is directed to write to Bro. Anthoney New requesting him to Enquire into that matter and give us Information and likewise to write to Sd. Bro. & Sister and that Bro. Leonard Young write to Bro. Leathers to make Enquiry Into the Standing of Bro. Joseph Cannon and write us word &c. Then Adjourn'd.
