The church known by the name of Marble Creek
Being dismissed from Boons and Constituted upon the Confession of Faith This 15th Day of June 1787 -
By the Assistance of Our Brethren S. Smith and Ambrose Dudley who constituted this Church then Consisting of Nineteen Members -
Whose names are enrold in the List, those members then being Confirmed as a Church Proceeded to make their Own Rules and Agreed to hold Church meeting on the Second Saturday in Each month - The Church then Adjournd -

July 13th 1787
The Church Conveynd in Order and Appointed Brother Samuel Bryan to be their Clerk. Agreed that the Church transact her Common Business with Open Doors and such Matters as the Church shall Deem of a Private Nature to be done in Private. The Church then Adjournd in Order to meet the next day.

August 1787
The Church Conveynd in Order and after Prayer Proceeded to Business whereon the following members was Rec'd by Experience. Viz, Levi Hunt, John Higgins, David Baker, Judith Glover, and Elizabeth Self. Agreed to Receive Margett McHan by Letter.

Sept. 2nd 1787
The Church Conveynd in Order and After Prayer Proceeded to Business. Agreed that this Church meet on the 1st day of Oct. in Order to consult about Building a meeting House. Receivd by Experience James McHan, Samuel Jones, Hester Wilson and Martha Gray then adjournd.

The Church Hearing Certain reports (said to be Propagated by William Morton a member of Clear Creek Church, Respecting Jno. Price, Agreed that Brs. Robert Fryar, Js. McHan and Mark Whittaco be appointed to visit the Church and enquire into the Matter and make Report at Our Next Meeting -

Agreed to Dismiss Samuel Bryan and Wife and also Mary Bryan at their Requests -

Agreed to hold our Church Meeting for the future the first Saturday in Each Month.

The Church being Conveyn'd in Order, Chose Br. Dudley to Act as moderator while Our Brethern Viz, Br. Walter Br. Hickman and Br. Taylor Assisted in the Ordination of Our Officers -

The Brethern who was Appointed at Our Last Church meeting to visit the Church at Clear Creek, came forward and informed the Church that the Report appeared to be groundless -

Agreed that all propositions coming before the Church shall be Determined by a Majority, Except in the Admission or Dismission of members and in that case a Unamnity be obtained if Possible -
Agreed that when the Church is form'd for Business that there shall not be talking practiced amongst the members But he that would Propose anything must Arise and Addres the Moderator in the Appalation and that no member may arise to speak whilst there is another up or a Speaking -
Agreed that no male Member withdraw without the leave of the Moderator.
Agreed that Our Brethern, Fryar, School, McHan be appointed to settle Differences and to Consult what may be most Suitable to come Before the Church

Negro Agness brought before the Church & is Charged with Certain thefts which being prov'd on her she is Excom'd -

July 2nd 1791
The Church Conveyn'd at the Meeting House and Chose Br. Price, Fryar, & Tall as Messengers to the Next Assciation - Then took up the Reference from our Last Meeting Respecting a Difference Between Brs. Fryar & Peasley & Laid it before a Committee Of our Bretheren from the Different Churches then Adjourn'd untill Next Morning - The Next Day the Committee on a full Investigation of the matter do Repoart as Follows. (we believe from the Testamony that we have received that Br. Peasley is guilty of Repeated falsities & has Acted in an unchristian manner in his conversation Respecting Br. Fryars Daughter (Polley Boon, & his charge of some of the Bretheren of Being guilty of Lying, in Giveing in their Testamony. Also of his sowing Discord through the Neighborhood & that his Acknowledgements are not satisfactory -

Agreed that Brs. Price, Fryar, Callaway, & Peter School be appointed to attend at Stroudes & enquire into the standing of that Branch of Tates Creek Church, and to constitute them a Church, agreeable to their Request, -

The Church Conveyn'd according to her Appointment & After Prayer finding no Business on hand, she Agreed to Adjourn untill our Monthly Meeting in cource -

June 1st 1792
The Church Conveyn'd & after Prayer Agreed to take up the following Charge (Against Br. Robert Fryar) brought in by Br. John Price, -
1st. for saying the Church was split and that we were two people, -
2nd for saying John Price was the means of said split, - On the Church making Enquirery into s'd charge was of the Opinion that Br. Fryar had Cause for saying what he did -
3rd for saying that he believed Br. Price Intended to split off from the Church & to Carry a Party with him. But to this Charge Br. Fryar made Acknowledgement to the satisfaction of the Church -
5th for saying that Br. Price had lost the Hearts of the People (Which Charge Br. Price withdrew. -
5th for saying (After Br. Price had given his reasons for some of his Conduct) that story would not bear


Telling and afterwards Denying he gave such Ans'r, however Br. Price & Fryar haveing talked the matter of this last Charge over, it appeared that there was a misunderstanding between them in Consequence of which Br. Price appeared willing to drop said Charge, so that the Church did not make up her Opinion, nor vote on s'd Charge, Whereon Br. Price gave up the Pastotal Care of s'd Church - before Ambrose Dudley -
& Daniel Bryan -

June 17th 1792
The Church Call'd a meeting to Compramise if Possible the Difference the subsiding between Br. Price & Fryar (which difference they Compramised within themselves and laid it not before the Church -
Also Agreed to Exclude Toney( a Negro of Mr. Hawkins) for Telling Non truths -

July 7th 1792
The Church Conveyn'd and after Prayer, they Agreed to set apart Thirsday the 19th Ins't as a day of Fast & Prayer - Then Adjourn'd in Order -

The Church met According to Appointment and Chose Our Brethren, Viz, Price, Denney,& Bryan as Messingers to the Ensuing Ass'on at Tates Creek on the Fourth Friday in the month -
Also Agreed that at Our Next meeting the Church shall Appoint Trustees in Order to Procure a Deed for one Acre of Land whereon the meeting House now stands -
By Calculation its found the No of Members is (97) -

Sep'r 29 1792
The Last Saturday the Church Conveyn'd & Agreed to


take up the Reference Respecting choosing Trustees & for that purpose chose Mr. John Young, Walter Car, John Price, & Robert Pryar in Order to procure a Deed according to our Resolve at Last Meeting. -
Also took up a matter of Difference Between Brs. John Price & R. Fryar & for that purpose choose the Following Brethren as a Committee (Ambrose Dudley & Daniel Bryan) to settle if Possible the Difference now sub-sideing & make Repoart to the Church Accordingly. On which this committee do repoart that the Difference is settled & the old Minute in Page 21 in Old Record, to be altered to what it now stands in the New. See Page 15. -

The Church Conveyn'd at Br. Prices & agreed to take up a matter of Complaint against sister Denton & called on Br. School to cite her to Attend Our Next Meeting -

The Church Conveyn'd at Br. David Bakers & took up the Charge against Sister, Rachel Denton, & after he Acknowledgements th Church Agreed to bear with her


Also took up the following Repoart against Br. Brown.
1st - that he had had a Drinking Frolick at his House
2nd - that he had abused his wife
3rd - that he had attended a free masons frolick at Johnsons Tavern.
Also Br. Richard Price brought before the Church for associating with Free Masons, But both Gases was laid over untill our Next Meetins
Also a Complaint Against Br. John Cruse for Associating with free masons, - and his Letter not being satisfactory to this Church Agreed that Br. Reed do appoint him to attend Our Next Meeting -
Br. Jas. Baker for Unchristian Language & Contradictions is Defered untill Next meeting
The Church then Adjourn'd in Order -

The first Saturday the Church Conveyn'd and after Prayer Agreed to lay over the References from our last Meeting untill our Next, Also on hearing a Complaint laid against Bro. Baxter it was agreed to defer it Also -

April 1793
The Church Conveyn'd & took up the References against Richard Price, Wm. Brown, & John Cruse for associating with Free masons, the case of Price Laid over untill Our Next Meeting by his Request - The Church Agrees to bear with Br. Brown, Respecting his Charge hopeing from his recantation that he will quit the Free Masons -
Also Agreed to Exclude John Cruse from us - & all other references Laid Over -

May 7th 1793
The Church Conveyn'd & took up a reference against Br. Wm. Brown respecting his Abusing his Wife & his Acknowledgement being Received by the Church he is Acquited, And as Br. Richard Price is Providentially


Detain'd at home his Case Is Defer'd, - Then took up the Charge against Br. Jos'h Baker which is again Defered - Also took up Charge (on Reference) against Br. Baxter for Drinking to Excess & using Vain Language. His Acknowledgements gave the Church Hope he had seen his folley & agreed to bear with him -
Agreed that Br. Batchelor should take on him the Care of the Meeting House & keep it Clean for which the Church Agreed to pay him at the Expiration of one Year. -
The same day Agreed that Brothers John Price, Rob't Fryar, & Samuel Denney represent us in Next Ass'n to be held at Bryans the third Saturday in May. -
Also Agreed that Br. Batchelor be Appointed to have the Watch Care over the Black Brethren -

June 1st 1793
The Church Conveyn'd & after Prayes took up the Reference of Charge Against Br. Joseph Baker and after hearing his Acknowledgement Agreed to bear with him in hope he had seen his folley -
Also Agreed to raise a fund for the Support of Church Expenses & that the Deacon be furnished with a list of the free male Members that they may be credited as the pay th Deacon, & that the same be read at Church Meeting -
Also took up old Reference of a charge against Br. Richard Price which is again refered to the next Meeting -

July 5th 1793

The Church Conveyn'd According to Appointment and took up the Complaint (The Church against Rich'd Price for non attendance at meetings, Immoral Conduct, such as Drinking to access, Cockfighting, Reveling etc and jointly Agreed to Exclude him from their fellowship. -
The same Day also took up a Complaint against Rachel and Bill, which was again Refered to Next Meeting -
Also took up the Reference of Charge against Br. Gideon Bristoe for unchristian Conduct, But his Acknowledgement gave the Church a reasonable hope that he has had repentance for the same therefore restores him again -
Also a Reference against Wm. Brown for non attendance which was laid over unto Next Meeting -
