Pastor Harold J. Harvey
Kentucky Baptist PastorBro. Harold J. Harvey was from Madison County, Kentucky and a graduate of Lexington Baptist College. He pastored in the Richmond, Kentucky area before he was called to be pastor of the Olmstead Baptist Church in Logan County, Kentucky for two terms, the first being July 1968 until March 1978, and the second from April 1984 until his death in July 2000. When he left in 1978, he pastored the Immanuel Baptist Church, Monticello, Kentucky and later at Faith Baptist Church, Sacramento, Kentucky. During Bro. Harvey's tenure at Olmstead, the church acquired more land, some of which was dedicated as a church cemetery.
He wrote articles on Bible and Baptist subjects for the Baptist Examiner monthly newspaper. He taught classes at Clarksville Baptist College, Clarksville, Tennessee. He also preached at churches in several states at special 'revival' meetings and in various Bible conferences.
Pastor Harvey unexpectedly died while filling the baptistry at the church building on a Sunday morning. His wife, Betty Jo, later moved back to Madison County.
