J. R. Graves At The Battle of Shiloh
The Biblical Recorder, 1862
"We had the pleasure of a visit from this brother, last week, which we enjoyed very much. He was on his way from Richmond to Corinth on Government business. Brother Graves was in the battle of Shiloh, both days of the fight, and gave us a glowing account of the scenes of those days. With all our reverses, he feels sure of our final success. When the present organization under the 'conscript' law shall be perfected, he will probably raise a Legion for the war, composed of artillerymen, infantry, and cavalry. He is lending his entire energies to the salvation of the country. Long may he live, and useful may he be." - Banner and Baptist.
