Joseph Jackson Goadby

Early British Baptist Minister and Historian
      Joseph Jackson Goadby (1828-1898) was a Baptist minister of Leicester. Rev. Goadby was the author of several books that include Bye-paths in Baptist History: a collection of interesting, instructive, and curious information, not generally known concerning the Baptist Denomination (London : Elliot Stock, 1871), Timely Words: being Fifteen Sermons, (London: 1869) and The Baptists and Quakers in Northhamptonshire: 1650-1700 (London, 1883).

      The above portrait of the Rev. Joseph Jackson Goadby (1828-1898), who was Minister of Henley Congregational Church 1874-92, and President of the Reading Literary and Scientific Society in 1896-98: copied from an album of portraits of presidents of the Reading Literary and Scientific Society transferred to Berkshire Record Office.

     Joseph Jackson Goadby was Born in 1828 at Leicester and died 23 March, 1898.
