Herbert D. George
Texas Baptist PastorBrother George was born October 27, 1922 in Texas City, Texas to Berthel Ott and Betty (Meador) George. He died October 12, 2010 at his residence in Huntington.
Brother George was a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, spending more than three years in the South Pacific. He was a Missionary Baptist pastor in East Texas for 61 years, including 19 years at Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church near Rusk and 25 years at Highway Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington.
Funeral services for Brother Herbert Duard George, 87, of Huntington, Texas were held Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Highway Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington. His body was laid to rest to await the resurrection in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Maydelle, Cherokee County, Texas.
