William Alva Sloan was born in 1892 and died in 1963. He was the second president
of the West Kentucky Baptist Bible Institute (later renamed Mid-Continent Baptist
Bible College) serving from 1953-1957. He had also previously served as a professor
at Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, Pineville, Kentucky and had pastored in Texas
and Florida.
Dr. Sloan wrote an important article that was published in the Western Recorder
in March, 1945 entitled "How Baptist Churches Receive Members." This tract has been
republished by the J. H. Spencer Historical Society.
