First Baptist Church
Independence, Kentucky
Western Recorder, 1928
Field worker W. A. M. Wood performed a wonderful feat in organizing a church in Independence a year ago with twenty-five members.

They now have membership of sixty. A beautiful house has been erected, costing $14,000, including equipment. It has a basement, Sunday-school rooms, baptistery, columns in front arid concrete walks. The art glass windows are of latest design. Every one wonders how it was built at such small cost.

Independence was the only county seat in Kentucky without a Baptist church. Bro. Wood has performed a notable work.

A meeting starts tomorrow night. Bro. Sleete, the beloved pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Covington, doing the preaching.
