John S. Fisher
Scottish Baptist Historian

      Born among gypsies and traveling showmen, and educated at Huish's Grammar School, John Fisher entered the civil service in Whitehall and held posts in the Home Office and in the Employment Service in London, Avon, Bedforshire and Hertfordshire, apart from war service with the Mountain Artillery. He has been a member successively of eight Baptist churches and lay pastor of a ninth. His present membership (1996) is at Kimmylies, Inverness. He is a member of the Baptist Historical Society, the author of two church histories and a contributor to The Baptists in Scotland. He became president of the Northern Baptist Association in 1995.
