May Meeting 1831

Bro. Robt Kirtley laid in a complaint agst. two black sisters belonging to himself named Milly & Lucy for having repeated quarrel & living in varience with each other, and positively contradicting each other and also for declaring their nonfellowship for each other - the matter was taken up & the said Milly & Lucy being present & heard, by a vote Milly is found guilty of sin & she not being giving satisfaction is Excluded - and Lucy by a vote is also found guilty of sin and not giving satisfaction she is likewise excluded

Bro Jno. Thomas laid in a complaint agst himself for getting angry with a man, & in the heat of pafsion proposing fighting him - The matter was taken up. He acknowledged that he was guilty of sin, and making satisfacting acknowleagments was restored to fellowship

Rec'd a request from the church at East Bend by their mefsenger Bro. Wm Kirtley for helps in the Ordination of a Deacon on the 3rd Saturday in this month and Brethren Joseph Botts, Edward Graves John Walton Willis Graves & Michael Glore are appointed to attend them accordingly.

It is made known to this church that Sister Eliza Graves departed this life since our last meeting

Bro Jos. Botts Mod'r The Breth'n appointed at our last meeting as helps to attend the church at East Bend, now report that Breth'n J Botts, Edw'd & Willis Graves attended said church and that Bro. Phil S. Bush was set apart & ordained as a deacon of the church at East Bend -

Bro Jos. Botts appointed to write our letter to our next afsociation and report it to our next meeting. And Brethren Robt. Kirtley, Jos Botts Willis Graves Edw'd Graves Reuben Graves Whitefield Early & Rowland Botts are appointed as mefsengers to the Afsociation

On motion of Bro Edw'd Graves, It is agreed that we take into consideration the propriety of adopting some measure in relation to those of our members who have & do about Ourselves and neglect to attend our meetings - After hearing the Views of Some of Our Brethren On the Subject It is agreed to postpone the matter until the next meeting.

The matter respecting members absenting themselves and neglecting to attend our meetings taken up and after deliberation appointed Breth George Gaines Michael Glore, Mills Wilks & Willis Graves together with the Breth'n Deacons to atted specially to that subject.

Bro. Gerge Gaines reported that Sister Ann Eliza Ann Watts departed this life Since our Last meeting

Agreed that if the Afsociation think it advisable we would willingly have the next afsociation with us, & that it be made known to the afsociation by our mefsengers.

Sept'r Meeting 1831
At a meeting of the church at Bullittsburgh 1st Saturday in Sept'r 1831
Bro Jos. Botts Mod'r Bro. Wm M. Gaines laid in a complaint against Davy a black member belonging to Wm Jno Norris for Hiring himself & working on Sunday & for Swearing. The matter was taken up & Breth Jos Botts & Reuben Graves are appointed to go & see Bro. Davy & Cite him to attend Our next meeting.

It is Reported to this church that Sister Sarah Craig & Bro. Tho's Beall have departed this life since our last meeting

On motion of Bro George Gaines it is agreed that we take up and consider the Subject of the meetings of the Black Breth'n members of the church, the matter being considered it is agreed that it be exprefsed as the will & wish of this church that the black as well as white members give their regular attendance to our 3rd Sunday meetings as well as to our meetings on the 1st Sunday - It is also agreed that we will not object to the Black brethren's having their meetings at other times within our bounds provided they use all the necefsary precautions, & are orderly while at their meetings and in going to and returning from them - But it will be considered as disorder in them to have any meeting at the time of our 1st & 3rd Sunday meetings.

The reference respecting Davy a black member belonging go Wm Norris was taken up and from the report of the Brethren who were appointed to see him - and Davy's failing to appear and hear the church He is found guilty of sin and is Excluded.

Upon application Letter of difsmifsion are granted to Sister Maria Terrell & Sister Elizabeth Allen

On motion it is agreed that we appoint a three days meeting at this place on the last Friday Saturday & Sunday in this month, and that our preaching brethren from other Sister churches in our Union be invited to attend our said meeting.

It is reported & made known to this church that Sister Permelia Sandford departed this life since our Last meeting - and also that Sister Dilsey a black member belonging to Bro. Jno. Terrell, has also departed this life since our last meeting

On motion of Bro. Edw'd Graves it is agreed that church will set apart & observe the last Saturday in the present month as a day of fasting humuliation & prayer to God & to meet here on that day by 10 Oclock as well as the ensuing day to worship - & that our ministering Brethren of other Sister church be invited to attend with us

Bro. Willis Graves reported and read a letter to the afsociation which is adopted as our letter - The Gov'n of this state having appointed the 18th of this month as a day of fasting and pray'r to God with a request for all Christian churches to observe said day as a day of fasting & pray'r - The matter was taken up and inasmuch as Our afsociation will be in sefsion on that day, it is concluded that will not be practicable for this church to observe the day as requested in the proclamation

Bro. Jno. C Bush returned the letter of difsifsion which he Rec'd from this church and exprefsed his desire to be continue and be considered as a member of this church, which is agreed to by the church -

On motion it is agreed that we observe and set apart the 4th Wednesday in the present month as a day of fasting humiliation and pray'r to God agreeably to the recommendation of the North Bend afsociation at their last meeting

Bro. Geo. Gaines inform'd the church that Bro. Daniel Mosby departed this life on the 11th of Oct'r last.

Our brethren deacons reported that the church funds were nearly ixhausted, the church took up the subject and request them to apportion the free white male members of the church the sum of Twenty Dols or a Sum as near that as they can & report at our next meeting

The reference respecting the appointment of 2 additional deacons was taken up & on motion it is agreed now to proceed to the appointment of two brethren as deacons by private ballot & Brethren Robt. Cornelius & Rowland Botts are chosen to fill the office of Deacons to this church. On motion & at the request of Brethren Cornelius & Botts the matter is postponed until our next meeting

The Brethren Deacons reported a bill of apportionment of $20.56 cts among the free white male members of this which is rec'd as satisfactory

It is made known to this church that sister Susan Garnett has departed this life since our last meeting.
