Whereas union - friendship & brotherly affection between both church & members is an object Desirable and it appears & is represented to this church that these graces are in some measure lacking between some of the members of this & middle creek church, and in order to have these subsisting obstacles remov'd & that a free intercourse may be had and brotherly love may [a]bound from breast to breast, we agreed to & hereby appoint our brethren Lewis Dewees, Chichester Matthews, Absalom Graves, Edward Webb & George Gaines, as a committee to negociate [sic] with a committee that may be appointed by our sister Middle Creek Church (provided she is willing to pursue the measures) to hear and try to settle any matter between any of the members & endeavour if possible to restore the members of the churches to that proper union & fellowship which ought to subsist among the members of Christ. Therefore if Middle Creek [Baptist Church] shall choose to join us in this (we hope Laudable engagement) we wish her to appoint a committee - a time & place for negociating [sic] this business. we appoint Brother Wilson to bear a copy of our proceeding herein to Middle Creek [Baptist Church] at her next meeting.
